This eLearning course has been designed to reflect the requirements of the Food Act 2014 (Sections 12, 43(h), 76(h)) and the Food Regulations 2015, (Sections 28, 29, 30, 73, 74, 76 ‘Protection of food during production, processing and handling’).

This eLearning course introduces food safety from a regulatory, business and consumer perspective whilst considering the at-risk groups and the food safety challenges consumers are faced with daily. Participants will be offered a comprehensive overview of the food safety hazards that are likely to cause foodborne illness and how to protect against contamination through applying Good Operating Practices in every step of the food handling process.

The information provided within this course may be used to demonstrate a verifiers learning outcomes as per the requirement of the CPD programmes.

After course registration (via invoice or online purchase), you will receive an email with access instructions. This will include your access user name and password. Course Assessment

Following the completion of the online CPD course, participants are required to complete an online assessment.

Participants are required to achieve 80% correct answers to demonstrate their understanding of fermentation processes.

Those participants that fail to achieve this required pass rate will receive an email to contact Karen Perry at Safe Food Services to discuss potential areas of improvement.

You can view this eLearning course through Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, etc. We have received some feedback that Internet Explorer offers the best viewing with some glitches being experienced with Chrome.

If you have purchased an annual subscription you will have already been given access to all SFS eLearning Courses via the SFS training portal. Please contact karen.perry@sfs.co.nz if you are experiencing problems with accessing YOUR COURSES.

If you choose to purchase an individual course you will first be requested to complete the BILLING DETAILS and to create your own unique username and password. On completion of the registration process you will be taken to CHECKOUT. Please ensure you tick the TERMS & CONDITIONS box before proceeding to BUY NOW. You are welcome to pay by credit card or request INVOICE ME PLEASE.

Please note that there is a 4% fee on purchases paid by credit card.

You will receive an email detailing the purchase of the course and instructions for accessing the course once payment has been confirmed.

If payment has been made by credit card, you will have immediate access to YOUR COURSES via the MEMBER LOGIN. Please enter your username and password when prompted which will direct you to SFS training protal.

There are no prerequisites to this eLearning course.

You will have received an email following payment of the course. This email has a direct link to SFS training portal login page. Alternatively you can you go to click on the MEMBER LOGIN from the SFS website where you can enter your username and password to access the SFS training portal and YOUR COURSES. Once in the SFS training portal, go to TRAINING, and click on the title in YOUR COURSES.

Yes. The course content and assessment can be viewed on most operating systems including Mac, Windows inclusive of apple and android mobile devices.

Yes. The online course requires you to either use your computer speakers or earphones.

Depending on the speed of your internet you may need to reduce the quality of the video you are watching to prevent the content from stopping and starting. You can do this by clicking on the settings button on the bottom right of the video screen and reduce the quality as see fit.

You are more than welcome to attend the course and watch the videos at your own pace. Annual subscribers have access to all courses for a duration of 12 months and individual purchased courses for 30 days.

On completion of a lesson, please ensure that you have clicked the COMPLETE button at the bottom of the page to indicate that you have attended and understood the content that has been delivered to you. If you fail to click this button you will not know which lesson you have attended nor can you progress to the next module.

Please ensure that you have clicked the COMPLETE tab per session inclusive of the COMPLETE tab per Module. Once stated as COMPLETE you can progress to the next Module and following that, your Assessment.

Yes. Participants are required to complete a multi-choice assessment and achieve an 80% pass rate to successfully complete the course.

Yes. You have 3 attempts to take the assessment to achieve an 80% pass rate.

Yes. Go to YOUR COURSES, click on the blue arrow to the right of each course title. The answers provided for each assessment questions can be found under Statistics.

Following successful completion of the course, you will have access to an electronic course certificate which can either be downloaded following your assessment or you can return to your PROFILE page on YOUR COURSES which maintains a copy of your certificate per purchased course.
